Ahhh, Virgo season is typically when some get a bit stressed about the impending dark months, but I feel the tingle of excitement in the air as we start slowly transitioning into autumn.

I have searched the attic for fairy lights to sprinkle around my office and scoured the charity stores for lamps to make it feel even cosier.

My morning walks feel crisper. I take the time to notice the trees slowly changing at the tips, and the few leaves dance in front of me, reminding me that soon, the ground will be covered with leaves beneath my feet.

As summer draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to enjoy and gather the fruits of your labour. Take some time to turn inwards and take stock of what has been working for you, refine your strategy and approach in your business, and make sure you are ready for the transition into the quieter, more reflective energy of autumn.

Now is an excellent time to share my New Moon in Virgo ritual for you to try. This is the perfect time for refining the details of your life and business, setting some gentle intentions grounded in practicality.

This particular season is more than just dreaming; it’s about making realistic plans to put your intentions in motion. Instead of big, sweeping goals you might have made in the new year, it’s about breaking things down into small, manageable pieces and taking small, intentional steps toward your desired outcome.

This reminds me of the action plans and road maps I create for my 1:1 clients because my clients have no shortage of ideas and dreams like you. You really need help with taking action without feeling overwhelmed and like you have to get everything done (all at once).

Setting the scene for your New Moon in Virgo Ritual

Find a cosy, quiet space to perform this ritual. If you are seated at your desk, you should clear away some of the clutter.

Throw away bits of paper, post-its, or notes that have gathered on your desk, pack away any items that you don’t use daily, and find a small element to represent this current season (it could be a little leaf that has fallen, a small sprig of rowan berries or a thistle (Make sure you forage responsibly).

Next, ground your energy and intention. Focus on how you want to use this Virgo New Moon energy to bring clarity, refinement, and purpose to your business.

Take a few deep breaths to help centre yourself. As you inhale, think about the clarity you seek, and as you exhale, let go of any chaos or confusion that has been filling your mind and draining your energy.

As you breathe, feel yourself becoming more grounded. Imagine the roots of your business that help you feel connected, energised, and focused.

Reflections and intentions for this Virgo New moon

Now turn towards your journal (if you don’t feel like you have the energy or capacity to journal, you could simply mull over these journal prompts in your mind). You could also use tarot cards or an oracle deck to tune in and connect with your intuition. As always, take what you need and ignore the rest regarding these rituals.

Here are some journal prompts to guide your reflection. These prompts are designed to help you harness the practical, detail-oriented energy of Virgo and start making real progress in your business.

  • Where in my business do I need a little more organisation, and what small step can I take to create more order and structure?
  • In what areas of my business do I need to focus on the details? And how can I break these down into smaller, more manageable steps?
  • What projects or tasks have I been putting off due to perfectionism, and how can I start making progress on them without overthinking?
  • What is one area of my business that needs refinement, and what concrete actions can I take to improve this month?
  • How can I ensure that my plans and actions align with my long-term vision for my business? What small, tiny steps or habits will help me stay on track?

Now it’s time to set your new moon intentions

Now that you have taken some time to reflect on what needs your attention during the next few weeks, you can write down your intentions for this new lunar cycle.

Focus on setting very specific and practical goals that align with Virgo’s energy of organisation, refinement and purpose. Be clear about what you want to achieve and how to get there.

Here are some examples of some intentions I am setting for this lunar cycle. Yours will be completely different, but I thought it might be helpful to share some ideas.

  • I am committed to letting go of perfection and getting my substack properly set up so that I can create a cosy library filled with business rituals for my audience to enjoy.
  • I am embracing flexibility and adaptability as my new offer evolves while staying focused on who I am supporting through this offer and why.
  • I intend to take small, consistent steps toward completing a big project I have set for the autumn (slowly updating my Flodesk welcome sequences and freebies). I will use Notion to break things down into smaller, more manageable tasks that I can pick and choose from in alignment with my energy and inspiration.

Creating a practical action plan – the key to making progress

Virgo Energy is all about the details. As a Virgo sun sign, it’s no wonder this is one of my favourite things to help clients!!

By creating an action plan and road map, you can stick to your new moon intentions and start to see actual progress. The key is not trying to do too much and prioritising your business. Set aside some time to work on your business (instead of only focussing on client work).

One of the biggest things I see is that you probably tend to prioritise client work (because it has a deadline, and you get that little dopamine hit and validation from client work) and let your business tasks become secondary.

But once you start to switch from working on your business in the margins to actually carving out the space to rebuild a business that works for you, you can bring more ease and freedom into your business.

This is why I love using rituals in your business: They create a sense of structure and routine, giving you a sense of accomplishment (that you probably get from your client work).

Ok, but back to your intentions. Take each intention and write out a list of specific tasks you can tackle over the next few weeks that align with your intentions. And then set aside some time to work on these. Even if it’s just for 15 minutes a day, you would be surprised how much you can get done when you work in little spurts.

And finally, finish this ritual by letting go of anything that no longer serves you.

Reflect on anything you need to let go of in your business to make space for clarity and growth. This could mean letting go of unnecessary tasks, something that is taking up space mentally, or something that feels really draining.

You can write these down on a little piece of paper and tear them up (or burn them (Safely, of course) to symbolise your dedication to letting go of the things that no longer serve you in your business.

Take a few deep breaths to ground yourself again. Let everything flow through you, feeling confident you know where to pour your energy and efforts over the next few weeks.

I hope this ritual has helped you set some practical intentions for the next few weeks as you harness Virgo’s energy to set goals, take thoughtful action, and focus on using your energy wisely.
